Good for you, always go for the bachelors degree over the associates. One of the few culinary arts schools in the country that offers a bachelors degree in baking and pastry is the Culinary Institute of America. This is also one of the premier schools.

I would definately eat here! There are just the right amount of choices - not too few not too many. Sounds like something for everyone. (kids menu would be nice since you are doing family meets classy) I would order the warm chicken cranberry salad, tortilla soup, chicken in tangy orange glaze w/sweet potato fries or coconut shrimp, definately creme brule for desert! Where are you planning on opening this resturaunt?

This all sounds so good. I like how you included sweet potato fries. The only question I would have is whether or not you have a kid's menu. People like to go places where the kids can get something special just for them. Favorite kid choices might include something like burgers and curly fries, pizza slices, mac and cheese, spaghetti, tacos, hot dog, grilled cheese. Classic kiddie fare. THey always like something to do while waiting too. Maybe coloring sheet and crayons or a puzzle or word game on a printed sheet. Keeps them busy! Good luck with your new venture.

Looks incredibly delicious. I would totally and completely eat there. Might I make a suggestion as to a menu item? Shepherds Pie is a HUGE family dish that I have seen several upper-scale restaurants serve. Might make a good addition to your already-fantastic menu. Good luck!

Interesting ideas. Wish you the best of luck with what you decide.
However, you might consider majoring in Music Education.
That way you can teach chorus or band in high school and play the piano (and other instruments you're likely to pick up on the way through college). Plus, with being a teacher, you'll get great holiday breaks, benefits, retirement plan and SUMMERS OFF!!! This would be a great time for you to work on your writing.
Playing poker should definitely be an on the side kind of thing because you are just as likely to lose as you are to win. Sounds fun, but don't expect to become a professional.
While anything is possible .... you could potentially go pro.... but you always need to have a plan that will be a sure thing (like education / teaching music) while you work on your big dreams.
Playing piano is less likely to pay off just from giving lessons privately (unless you're great at marketing yourself and you're in a town where there aren't many other pianists). Playing at restaurants, events and such might be a good side business, but it might be hard to pay rent sometimes. If you are serious about the piano and have drive and lots of talent, you could try to become a professional pianist for orchestras or symphonies, or maybe theater or opera companies.
There are lots of possibilities, but be sure to keep your feet on the ground while your head is in the clouds. :) Motivation and determination are 80%! Good luck

Being a chef can be fun but it takes a certain breed. I'm in the culinary world and the job beats you up for very little money. The average line cook in the US makes around $10/hr and unless you are a chef at a fancy resort, you are going to be making in the neighborhood of 40k/year working 50+ hour weeks. Personally I like the work and tend to freak out in office settings (I had one briefly due to the economy) but I don't know how much longer my knees and back can take the punishment that kitchen work dishes out. If you like the work than more power to you because despite the crummy wage, it really is a sweet profession, though you aren't offered that much creativity as you are always answering to somebody unless you own the place and don't care about customers. If you are already in the profession, than I am preaching to the choir but if you are not, I would seek out a cook job (NOT IN A CORPORATE CHAIN) and see how you like it. Despite what I said, it really is a fun profession and many people do like it.

I don't know much about architecture other than the amount of schooling you need for it since I had a roomate who had wanted to go into that. There are a good amount of architecture firms out there and I don't see why any of them wouldn't let you shadow them for a day or two to get a good idea of what a typical day is for them. Just walk into one that seems reputable or does a style you like and see if you can shadow them and pick their brain.

From what I gathered from your question, if it were me, my course of action would be to work in a casino doing blackjack or other card games like poker. On the side, do the piano bit. You would probably meet high roller people in casinos that might be looking for a pianist for their fancy parties which would be fun supplemental income, and work with that until you could find a publisher who will pick up your writings. Or maybe you'll dig on the life of an architect or maybe you'll enjoy the roar of the hood systems, clatter of pans, heat, flames, and pace of a kitchen.

It sounds like you have a fun plan and if you take a good strategic approach, I don't see why you couldn't do the things you mentioned. You don't necessarily have to take my approach to it, it's just some food for thought.

it all sounds good to me.i hope you and your sister are great cooks.you have a good mix of food.you might set it up with a modern day theme, because of the types of foods you have.i would go with a west coast theme.i don't know where you are going to be located.is it going to be near a college town?my reason for asking is because you have to keep in mine that in the summer college are out,but if it's near a tourist area, you need to keep in mine how long tourist season last.

Wow! Sounds yummy! Your menu sounds great. My only criticism is that it's a little heavy on the chicken and I would definately add a few more vegetarian items. Consider a grilled eggplant or a portabello sandwich, or a veggie burger.

Your deserts sound absolutely scrumptious :)

Well everything sounds great, but because you kind of have all different varieties of food in this menu just be careful that its made to the highest quality, and its not a lazy knockoff, and i'd cut the cookies out even though it is a bistro cookies are way too casual even for a bistro and too plain considering your menu above, its like you got the cupcakes which are fine, then the cookies and then all of a sudden you throw some creme brulee you definitely have to stick to one kind of stream and with the desserts it doesn't really sound like it. I don't think I'd ever order just a cookie for dessert at a restaurant.

Sounds good and your smart to keep everything simple. Someone gave the opinion to offer both Pepsi and Coke products which might be nice but financially lucrative because the quality of food and atmosphere is what draws the crowds.

Your soft drinks will more than likely be your largest P&L (profit and loss) earner percentage wise so here's a little tip for you.

When you first start out play the Coke and Pepsi sales reps against one another to get the best deal. I'd go back and forth 2 or 3 times to negotiate the best price possible and let them know they are competing for your business.

This is a good practice to keep doing every 6 months or so when they make a sales call on your business. Don't hesitate to change products if it's going to be financially lucrative to do so and it's to much of an inconvenience. Customers do have their favorites and all but it's certainly a deciding factor when they choose where they want to go and eat. That's when you win them over with everything else.

Looks good to me. Un less you have a few options for us veggies. (:

Though your desserts sounds pretty good and yummy!. As for the place, keep it clean. I wouldn't go to a restaurant that has a dirty restroom and all.

Ohhh, I love the menu. I did catering for 9 years and Im fascinated with different foods. Are your desserts made fresh? because those are the best.
I think your place should have a Modern or Tuscany look.
What would you serve if moms walked in with their 2, 3, or 4 yr. old child? I definitely give all the above to my child or grand baby, but still to small to eat these items.
